The prevalence of ventricular arrhythmias at initial examination was low in the Greek patient population and decreased with time. The exact pathophysiology underlying this low arrhythmogenic substrate is unknown. Although all symptomatic patients received treatment with (3-adrenergic blocking agents or verapamil, these agents have not been shown to suppress ventricular arrhythmias. The inducibility or the mechanism of the arrhythmias was not explored in this study.

The occurrence of sudden death in this Greek patient cohort was lower than previously reported. Most reports in the literature describe rates for sudden death in the range of 2 to 4% and up to 6% in childhood. In contrast, in the present study, the annual sudden cardiac death rate was only 0.4%. It is worth noting that none of the patients aged <35 years died over the 6-year follow-up period. canadian pharmacy levitra

There are several possible explanations for the benign clinical course of the disease, the low incidence of ventricular arrhythmias, and the relative infrequency of sudden death in this cohort. First, although the study was conducted in a tertiary medical center, patients were not selected on the basis of symptom severity or treatment needs.
